For this standard the following connection between temperature and electrical resistance is core fixed:

For the temperature range -200 °C to 0 °C:

R_t = R₀ (1 + At +Bt² + C (t-100°C) t³)

For the range from 0 - 850°C:

R_t = R0 (1 + At + Bt²⁾

For the platinum quality generally used in the industry the following constants are valid in the equation:

A = 3,9083 *10^-3 °C^-1
B = -5,775 * 10^-7 °C^-2
C = -4,183 * 10^-12 °C^-4

a = (R₁₀₀- R₀)(100 * R₀)^-1 = and has the value 0,00385°C^-1

R₁₀₀: Resistance at 100°C
R₀: Resistance at 0°C
