Steel and cast iron production

Temperature measurement is an absolutely critical process in the steel industry, as it directly affects the quality of the final product, energy efficiency, and plant safety.
Steel is melted and processed at extremely high temperatures, often well above 1,500 °C. Typical measurement points include the coking plant, the blast furnace, the steelworks, or the hot rolling mill.

To accurately capture the high temperatures in steel production and processing, thermocouples of type B or type S are primarily used, equipped with specially designed, high-durability protective fittings suitable for extremely hot and aggressive environments.

Immersion thermocouples are indispensable for measuring molten steel in the converter, ladle, or reheating furnace. They allow for fast and precise — albeit short-term — measurement of the exact temperature before the metal is poured.

Permanently installed temperature sensors are used for continuous monitoring of lower process temperatures (e.g., in the preheating furnace or in the continuous casting mold).

Precise temperature control at every stage—from the blast furnace through the converter to the ladle — is crucial to ensure the correct microstructural properties, and thus the mechanical strength and toughness, of the produced steel.

As a specialized manufacturer, we offer tailored high-temperature sensors, robust protective fittings, and precise immersion thermocouples engineered to withstand the extreme thermal and chemical demands of steel production. With our durable, custom-built designs and certified calibrations, we ensure maximum equipment uptime and reproducible product quality. From individual engineering consultation to series production, we deliver the optimal measurement technology from a single source.
